TWO BIRDS TASTE TEST TWO BIRDS

We were recently approached for beer for a film set, by a local Melbourne production company – Monster & Bear, producing a web series that was an unapologetically honest female-driven dramedy series, it sounded pretty fun to us. The two female leads are charismatic, talented ladies. We put our beers in front of them to taste test and pressed record. This taste review of our ongoing range is 100% improvised and the result is not scripted. It’s from the heart and is in line with our company values and that’s simply to encourage all people to SPREAD THEIR WINGS; to try new things, believe in yourself, pursue your dreams and passions and step outside your comfort zone.

Trail Blazer Lager – Available Nationally

After a successful season with the AFLW, Trail Blazer is now available nationally On Tap and in 330ml Cans.

There has been many people that have supported us from the early days of our business, back when it was….just two birds.

Our Trail Blazer lager is a nod to all the trailblazers that have come before and those to come and we’ll be featuring some trailblazing stories, people that have inspired us and encouraged us to continue to blaze our own trail.

Enjoy!

How long have you been running your venue/working in hospitality?
Operating since 2009

What keeps you motivated?
Seeing the expansion of the craft beer industry over the last decade and knowing how much further it can go. The product, beer, is just the best. There is no two beers the same and it is so diverse.  It can completely change peoples perceptions of what beer really is, i.e. not the standard lager Australians were served for such a long time, and is one of the best conversation starters around. Also the Australian industry is very collaborative and willing to experiment/trial new things.

What trailblazers do you look to for your inspiration? (In any field)
We look to people who push the boundaries, don’t rest on their laurels and innovate. Those who challenge the status quo and look to improve on yesterday while giving back to their industry and community. The likes of Elon Musk, Ernest Shackleton and Two Birds of course!

What’s the best advice you’ve ever received?
You don’t know what you don’t know.” It sounds weird but until you ask the right questions or seek out new information you will only be as good as the knowledge you currently hold. You need to be inquisitive and thirsty for knowledge. I think this relates a lot to our industry, especially as it evolves. We can always continue to create a better product, service, experience, community etc by learning

How long have you been running your venue/working in hospitality?
14 years

What keeps you motivated?
I have a massive love for craft beer and has loved watching it grow and flourish over the years and are proud to be a part of the growth. We only sell Australian owned independent beers. It’s a daily challenge to keep the business “cool and hip ” and this keeps me motivated, so we are constantly coming up with new ideas, events to help the business grow. It keeps me very busy!

What trailblazers do you look to for your inspiration? (In any field)
Venues such as Baxters Inn and Shady Pines initially inspired me to start my own craft beer bar, when I was working as a bartender in Surry Hills. My very first introduction to craft beer, was back when I lived in Colorado in the States and this was the starting point for me.

What’s the best advice he’s ever received?
Set yourself reasonable goals and make sure you keep track of them. Always look long term and think of the business as a ten year plan. Success doesn’t happen over night!
